Plymouth Manor Wedding | Greenmead Wedding
For Dana & Dan’s wedding, I headed to my home town Plymouth, Michigan to be a Michigan wedding photographer for the day! For those of you who don’t know where Plymouth is, it’s about half way between Ann Arbor and Detroit.
I have known Dana since 6th grade. We go all the way back to super high party bangs, cruising Main Street, having impromptu photo sessions in flannels and homecoming dresses, and singing duets of Always, by Atlantic Star. I have to say that Dana hasn’t changed a bit. Except, she no longer uses Rave #3 hairspray and cruising Main with the bass bumpin’ is a thing of the past.
Dana is still hilarious as ever, speaks her mind, is fiercely loyal, is great with kids, and truly has not aged a bit. Twenty-four years later, I still look at her and think, “Wow. She is so beautiful”.
Dana & Dan have a pretty awesome love story, which I will be sharing throughout this blog post.
Dana’s dress could not have been more perfect for her. I actually gasped when I saw her in it for the first time.
This photo of her rings was taken on her grandmother’s purse. This purse is extra special to Dana because her grandmother has passed away.
Before heading to Greenmead for the wedding, we did some bridal portraits at Dana’s friend Danielle’s house. I LOVED shooting Dana. She seriously rocked it!
This is Dan. He is Dana’s super handsome groom.
This is Dan and his super handsome groomsmen before the ceremony.
Okay, back to Dana’s bridal portraits…
Dana’s girls were so much fun. Not to mention, they are all such beautiful bridesmaids!
The ceremony was held at Greenmead Historical Park. This is the little old church where the ceremony took place. The grounds at Greenmead are so perfect for doing wedding photos!
Dana had succulents in her bouquet and I did another squeal when I saw them. I am obsessed with succulents. The ribbon and buttons on her bouquet are also her grandmother’s.
Dan and Dana met in 1984 when they became neighbors. Dan’s sister, Beckie, and Dana were best friends. They spent tons of time together running around the neighborhood and Dan was the funny little brother who followed the girls around. Sadly, a few years later, Dan’s family moved to Tawas and Dana and Beckie lost touch.
Fast forward 20 years…and to the creation of Myspace. Beckie decided to track down her old friend Dana and they were instantly friends again. The craziest part is they discovered that Dan was currently living only three stops signs away from Dana! Dan and Dana decided to meet up for a drink and they haven’t left each other’s side since. Who knew that being childhood neighbors would turn them into husband and wife. So sweet.
On to the ceremony. I love how Dan was all teary-eyed as Dana walked toward him.
In true Dana form, she had everyone laughing during the ceremony. And, of course, there were many emotional moments, too.
And then there is the ring bearer! This little dude was amazing.
The girls all wore Converse after the ceremony.
