I was walking my dog yesterday morning and I was grumbling to myself about how rainy and gray it was. I walked, head down, just wanting it to be over so I could get out of the rain. Then, when we got back to our house, I saw this lone flower in our yard.
It had blown over from our neighbor’s bush and I couldn’t help but think about how symbolic it was. It was a huge reminder to me that I should have been enjoying the moment, or “smelling the roses”, as they say. I should have been grateful for the crisp morning air and exercise I was getting. My dog certainly was grateful. She is just excited to to be moving and exploring, no matter what!
I’m grateful that this beautiful flower reminded me to “stop and smell the roses”.
