I get super excited when I find a product or food that I love. And I find myself sharing my fab discoveries with anyone who will listen because I want everyone else to enjoy them, too! So, today, I’m doing another “things I love post” similar to the one I did here on Black Friday.
I’m still trying to figure out what took me so long to buy this Naked eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay. I have been telling myself to buy it for over a year now. I would see makeup artists with it and drool over the gorgeous colors. I went shopping with my sister-in-law last week and I spotted it at Sephora. I beelined it and decided I had waited long enough! I love the texture and variety of colors.
I’ll start by saying that I am a snacker. A salty snacker. I can destroy a bag of Goldfish crackers or Better Made Butter Braid pretzels (I talk about those below) in one sitting. With that being said, I have been hearing about something called kale chips for years and wanted nothing to do with them. I mean, nothing about these green things appealed to me. Then, one day, a friend was eating some kale chips that she had made. Something in me told me to reach into her tupperware and grab one. I couldn’t believe it. They were salty and crispy and tasted amazing. I went into snack shock. WHY IN THE WORLD HAD I NOT TRIED THEM SOONER?!
I have replaced most of my snacks with kale chips that I easily make at home. Dan and I LOVE them! I choose them over potato chips any day and, believe me, that is saying a lot. Not only are they tasty and easy to make, but they are ridiculously good for you. This is a great article about the top 10 health benefits of kale. I’m extra happy about this because my other snack addictions have little to no health benefits. I now eat a big bunch of kale in one sitting, as long as Dan isn’t home. Otherwise, I have to share it. The only downfall about kale is that it smells kinda funky when you cook it.
Here is the recipe:
1. Tear kale off of stems (photos of the type of kale I use below)
2. Toss in a touch of olive oil and salt
3. Spread on a cookie sheet and bake for about 10 minutes at 350. Check them every so often to make sure they aren’t burning. Once they are crispy, they are done!
This color. I can’t get enough of this color lately. I recently bought this sweater at Pitaya in the University District and I’m not ashamed to admit that I wore it 3 out of 7 days last week. That is how much I love this color. In fact, this sweater inspired the color palette for a styled wedding photo shoot that I’m working on! I am also still obsessed with mint green, just for the record.
Better Made Butter Braided pretzels are hands down the best pretzels on this earth. I’m not kidding. While you can usually find me eating kale chips these days, I can’t resist these pretzels from time to time. I usually only eat them a few times a year because Better Made products haven’t made their way to the west coast yet. They are a Michigan company and I brought home 5 bags with me after visiting a few days ago. Although, while looking for their website to link for this blog post, I discovered that I can actually order them online. I sort of wish I hadn’t discovered that.
