Is there such thing as an emotional hangover? If so, I definitely had one yesterday. In a good way. Wednesday was the first of three reSTARt sessions on creativeLIVE and, wow, was it amazing. And incredibly educational. And insanely emotional!
During the two days of filming of reSTARt, 7 hours being live online, I felt encouraged, motivated, humbled, scared, proud, anxious, brave, grateful, and excited, just to name a few. Being a live participant of reSTARt will do that to you and it is worth every second! ReSTARt is an incredible opportunity to improve my business. And to improve my life as a result.
Jasmine Star, an extremely successful international wedding photographer and phenomenal business woman, took us through some of the ins and outs of the business end of photography. She worked her booty off to get where she is at and she is more than willing to share her secrets.
It still feels a little bit dreamy that I was chosen as a reSTARt participant. While I am in love with being a photographer, the business end has always been so daunting to me. Now, here I am, with the opportunity to create a solid business plan. To actually enjoy the business aspect and to become confident in that area. I am insanely GRATEFUL.
Here are my partners-in-crime, Melissa and Ryan. They are the other two photographers who were selected to be reSTARt participants. I’m so fortunate to have them! We are having a blast going through this process together.
One of our challenges of the day was to do a photo shoot in 10 minutes with a gorgeous couple on a set we had not yet seen and we had to shoot for our brand. While I was sweating bullets knowing that upwards of 15,000 people were watching live on creativeLIVE, AND I WAS WEARING 3 INCH HEELS, I tried to have fun with it and pretend I was just doing my normal thing. Here are some of the images I took during the 10 minutes shoot.
There was also a studio audience filled with 30 very talented photographers from all over the country (and Canada!). These folks were AMAZING to have there! I tear up thinking about them. We could see and hear their encouragement all day and it was so incredibly helpful to have this extra positive vibe in the studio.
As a side note, if you are a photographer and you haven’t yet tuned in to creativeLIVE, I HIGHLY recommend it! CreativeLIVE has by far been the best learning tool for me. Not only have I learned a crazy amount from Jasmine Star, but Sue Bryce and Roberto Valenzuela have also transformed the way I shoot. All from their creativeLIVE courses that anyone can purchase.
And then, of course, there is the stellar creativeLIVE crew! Everyone from the producers to the sound and tech people to the folks who make sure we have a yummy lunch to the hosts have been seriously awesome. They are so fun and welcoming. Here are Kenna and Susan, two beautiful souls who have been hosts of creativeLIVE from the start.
I’m not done with my love fest just yet. We started a reSTARt Facebook group and the positive energy is flowing! So much support is happening in that group. People are even starting local reSTARt groups around the country (and in Australia!) to support each other and to keep each other accountable. You should totally check it out here if you haven’t already! Here is a screen shot from this morning…
I can’t thank everyone enough for the outpouring of love and support. The messages and comments people have sent to me have made my heart swell. Strangers have taken the time to reach out and I am SO grateful for that. I truly believe that together, we can achieve more.
I am so excited for what is to come. I know that 30 years from now, I can look back at my life and be certain that I worked hard, took risks, and made changes to ensure that my life is what I want it to be. That I didn’t settle for unhappiness. And it feels amazing.
