As a Seattle wedding photographer, this is a very special blog entry to me. I have known Kimberly since middle school and she is someone who I admire and respect greatly. Kimberly is one year younger than me and I met her because I was friends with her older sister, Courtney. Usually, as kids, people don’t want a younger sister hanging around, but that was never a problem with Kimberly–she fit right in. I have so many fun memories with Kimberly and Courtney! Fast forward 20+ years and there I was, photographing Kimberly’s amazing wedding, and it was truly an honor.
It was so wonderful to see Kimberly and Courtney’s parents again. It has crossed my mind many times over the years that I wanted to ask Mr. & Mrs. Sheldon what their secret was to raising such successful, level-headed, kind, beautiful daughters. I even brought it up to Dan when Kimberly and I crossed paths again in Seattle a few years ago. Well, I had my chance on Saturday. I asked Mr. Sheldon the question that I had been wanting to ask for so many years and he said, “We spent a lot of quality time together. I read to them every night. We had fun.” He continued on to tell me a few stories. His response was simple, yet so powerful at the same time. I will never forget it.
Jesse’s parents are also very inspiring . His father made a speech that brought everyone to tears. He read entries from a journal that he wrote to Jesse that he started when Jesse was only five years old. It was so very touching!
I love Kimberly and Jesse together. They are both so intelligent and fun and love the outdoors. Their wedding reflected all of those things and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day. The wedding was at the Huntley Lodge surrounded by the Cascade Mountains. It was just perfect!
I love being a wedding photographer in Seattle!
