Wings of Karen – Seattle Photographer
An unbelievable amount of women in this world are fighting for their lives. They are fighting for the life they deserve to live. They are fighting breast cancer.A friend of mine asked if I was interested in taking photos for an organization that her friend Kristi Blair recently founded. Kristi named it Wings of Karen
in honor of her mother, Karen Denmark. While Karen is no longer physically present due to breast cancer, Kristi helps keep her memory alive with Wings of Karen. Kristi fought her own battle with breast cancer (and won!) and is determined to help other women who are diagnosed.
My beautiful grandmother lost her battle with breast cancer in 2003. She fought like a champ, though, and I was proud of her strength. My dear friend, Jill, began her fight in 2009 at age 32 and she continues to fight as the cancer has invaded her bones. If you know Jill, you know that she will beat it. She just has to. She is too important to this world.
In fact, all of the women fighting breast cancer, and any type of cancer, are important to this world and I hope they will keep fighting! Our Aunt Colleen has been 3 years clear of the colon cancer that invaded her body several years ago. You can read about her inspiring story here.
It is possible to beat cancer and Kristi is helping women to do so through Wings of Karen.
Kristi (left) and Siri went to high school together. Little did they know that they would be bonding by kicking breast cancer’s ass.
